An Olive Festival Dinner with the Mayo Family Winery
Gala Dinner & Reception

Sonoma, CA (January 16, 2003) – Celebrated Sonoma Valley chef Carlo Cavallo announced today that he will host an Olive Festival Dinner with the Mayo Family Winery at his beautiful Meritâge Restaurant just off the Plaza in Sonoma.

The Mayo Family Winery, located at 9200 Sonoma Highway in Kenwood is well known for its outstanding vineyard-designated varietals.

Wine & Spirits Magazine called the 2000 Ricci Reserve Zinfandel one of the "top ten zins of 2002."
The menu will consist of the following:

Reception
Chef Carlo's Olive festival canapés
2001 Sauvignon Blanc, Emma's Vineyard, Napa Valley, “Unwooded”

Salad
Maine lobster served over avocado, roasted tomatoes, and grapefruit in a citrus local olive oil dressing 2001 Chardonnay, Laurel Hill Vineyard, Hillside Select, Sonoma Valley, Estate Bottled

Pasta
Handmade ravioli stuffed with Sonoma foie gras in a sage olive oil truffle sauce 2001 Pinot Noir, Piner Ranch Vineyard, Russian River Valley

Entree
Grilled Venison and Lamb loin braided together topped with a Pomegranate and aromatic herb olive oil infusion served over Vella Jack potato gratin 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon, Los Chamizal Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
2001 Syrah, Page/Nord Vineyard, Napa Valley

Dessert Duet
Warm chocolate hazelnut torte and Blood Orange Meringue 2000 Zinfandel Port, Ricci Vineyard, Russian River Valley 1999 Late Harvest Riesling Napa Valley

Cost
The cost for the dinner and reception is one hundred dollars per person, all inclusive of wine, tax, and gratuities. The reception will be held from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm and dinner starts promptly at 7:00 pm. As seating is extremely limited, early reservations are recommended.

Winery Info
Meritâge originally opened on November 17, 1999 and quickly became a popular destination restaurant in wine country. The seasonal, market-driven menu features a blend of southern French and northern Italian cuisines. Within a year, both the clientele and menu grew to include breakfast service as well as fresh seafood, including live lobster from the tank. Recent additions of a gelateria offering a selection of delicious flavors and an espresso bar complement the entire dining experience.
